Cricothyroid surgery approximation.

Cricothyroid approximation was one of the most common surgeries of the past 20 years used to change the relaxed pitch of the voice. The normal action of the cricothyroid muscle is to increase tension of the vocal cord margin by lengthening the vocal cord. The vocal quality produced by this increase in tension of the vocal cord is called falsetto. Contraction of this muscle brings the thyroid cartilage and cricoid cartilage into approximation in the anterior midline, so CTA surgery effectively sutures the cricothyroid muscle into a permanent position of contraction, although the degree is variable.

Transgender Netwerk Nederland.

The Dutch foundation Transgender Netwerk Nederland, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Transgender Netwerk Nederland is the foundation that works nationally for the emancipation of transgender people and their environment. Combating discrimination against transgender people is one of our most current spearheads. Our goal is to enable a gender diverse society. Emancipation of transgender people is still badly needed. There is much unknown about this group of people. This causes prejudice and discrimination. An additional obstacle is the norms and ideas about the body and about gender that are widely present in society. They make the prejudices more difficult to combat. Sustainable acceptance of all transgender people can therefore only succeed in a gender-diverse society.
